First Planning Meeting in the Books!

It’s official! The air show planning committee (safely) got together to make official introductions, discuss lessons-learned and best practices, and share excitement about the upcoming 2022 Smoky Mountain Air Show.

While there were a lot of familiar faces in the room that were critical to the 2016 air show efforts, many new faces are in the mix to provide fresh insight and enthusiasm for the upcoming show.

The first order of business was discussing the organizational chart. From parking management to crowd control, we have qualified committees ready to hash out every detail and prepare accordingly.

We are looking forward to working closely together over the next year to plan and implement the safest and best air show experience for East Tennessee in 2022.

The U.S Navy’s Blue Angels are Coming Back!

During the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) on December 8, 2020, the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels announced that Knoxville, TN, will be a stop on their 2022 air show schedule! The Blues will perform at the Smoky Mountain Air Show on September 10-11, 2022. The last time the Blue Angels performed in Knoxville was at the Smoky Mountain Air Show in 2016, and it was an unforgettable performance seen by thousands!
